While creating my “discovery draft” (term borrowed from Robert Jay Ray and his little manual on how to write a novel in a year of weekends) I’ve managed to much expand my original outline. On the one hand this seems like a great development — I’m pleased with the way the story is progressing both in character growth and general story satisfaction if that makes any sense — but at the same time I’m left wondering if this thing is ever going to be finished. I have to keep reminding myself that this is the rough draft and I’ll have plenty of time to cut it when I start rewrites.
I’m gonna finish this sucker!
