The older I get, the more experience I have, the more I realize that no one can really teach you anything. Sure, they can show you the basics and then reveal how they approach a subject, but in the end, any skill you obtain is won through practice.
I’ve studied–and will continue to study–many authors and the ways they approach novel writing. These folks run the gambit on genre and voice, production and pace. And the one thing I’ve taken away from all that study is that I’ve got to forge my own path. I have my method and it works for me.
Really, that’s all that matter.
